Welcome to Dalton First, a United Methodist Church. We hope you will take a minute to explore the ministries and opportunities we offer, and plan to visit one of our services on a Sunday morning — or join us for worship online.

Our story

Dalton First United Methodist Church has stood at the heart of our city since 1847 — serving generations with faith, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the community we call home. We have grown alongside Dalton, evolving to meet the needs of a changing world while staying rooted in the unchanging love of Christ. As part of the United Methodist Church, we belong to a global connection of believers who are united in mission, grounded in grace, and committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our heritage combines thoughtful faith, passionate service, and a heart for justice and mercy.

Where we are headed

But our story is not just about history — it is about hospitality. We believe church should be a place where everyone feels seen, known, and loved. That is why we live out the Methodist motto of “Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors.” No matter where you come from or where you are going, there is a place for you here. From traditional worship to modern expressions of faith, from small groups to city-wide service, we are a church on a journey — led by God’s Spirit, anchored in Christ, and shaped by the hope we share together. This is our story. And we would be honored to be part of yours.

Our vision for the next three years

Dalton First United Methodist Church will impact 450 people each weekend with our on-campus worship experiences. We will pursue excellence at every level because we believe it honors God and inspires people. We will create life-changing experiences that are welcoming and friendly to both Christians and people outside of faith. On our campus, people are winsomely welcomed, radically loved, and offered acceptance in a non-creepy way.

We will baptize 75 people over the next three years, and celebrate decisions and tangible life-change on a consistent basis. Our kids’ ministry will be re-vamped, re-branded and re-sourced to create irresistible environments that draw children to Jesus, teaching, loving and leading 90 kids each weekend. We will build a strong and intentional discipleship pathway that results in half of our adults and students actively engaged in groups, classes and serving.

We will continue to be a church that prioritizes serving our community through local missions, supporting and partnering with agencies across Dalton. Dalton First will be known for the way we love and serve our community. This town will hear us loud and clear — that WE LOVE DALTON!
